It was 1993 when the first Leprechaun film came out starring Warrick Davis and Jennifer Aniston and now the cult horror film is due for a remake.
Lionsgate has confirmed that the film, which originally follows a killer leprechaun trying to recover his stolen pot of gold will be remade.
This comes under the Childsplay banner of creepy kids stuff horror and we can’t wait for it to be out. There are no directors or actors currently attached but Lionsgate hope for a 3012 release all the same.
WWE said of the remake which forms part of a two film deal with Lionsgate :
‘We have been looking for ways to continue our relationship with Lionsgate and we saw ‘Leprechaun’ as the perfect opportunity to take a well-known franchise and put a modern-day spin on it. This is a property that we believe our audience will respond to and we continue to look for ways to surprise and engage them.’
You should watch the first Leprechaun however before the remake comes out. A brilliant cult classic and Jennifer Aniston’s first ever actin role before even Friends.
