Killing Them Softly is one of those films that you should go and see before you’ve read any reviews. As you can see from the star rating we’ve given it, there aren’t many other movies that are its equal. But if you go in with a preformed opinion your experience will be distorted, even if only in a minor way.
In fact seeing it get five stars is liable to colour your judgement in any case, so try to forget what you’ve read here.
…
If you insist on getting a little background, it’s a darkly comic gangster film about robberies and killings in credit crunch America, set during a time when the country was on the verge of Obama’s election victory. Its director was responsible for The Assassination of Jesse James… and Chopper, which are also excellent.
That’s all that you need to know. The review is over now. Go and see it, unless you happen to hate movies that are very good indeed.
Um…what else is going on at the moment? Did you see Kate’s tits? How about that bloke who called a policeman a fucking pleb? What about that American election then, eh? Romney is hilarious. He’s a bit like the president voiced by Stephen Colbert from Monsters vs. Aliens. Except less in touch with reality.
Iran though, yeah? Blimey. Talk about ticked off!
