In a huge surprise this morning it has come to our attention that Kensington Roof Gardens is up for sale.
The building that formerly houses Biba in the 60s and played host to the Rolling Stones who would hang out with the flamingos in the garden on the roof is to be sold off and the price tag? A cool £200 mil.
Kensington Roof Gardens now sits on top of offices and forms the roof to a club and restaurant run by Virgin has a 1.5 acre, grade II* roof garden which was laid out throughout 1936-38 with fully grown trees, buildings, streams and wildlife.
Virgin has had the place on lease since the early 80s and lets hope they get to stay on with the new owners as it would be a crying shame for Londoners to be denied access to the gardens.
