A Disney Mickey Mouse T has caused such a stir with Joy Division fans that it has been taken off sale.
After taking the Joy Division inspired T down off their site Disney has said they are ‘reviewing the situation further’.
They continued to say that ‘As soon as we became aware there could be an issue, we pulled it from our shelves.’
As Pitchfork reported on Monday, the shirt fused Mickey Mouse with the cover artwork from the band’s 1979 album Unknown Pleasures.
What has turned out pretty good for anyone that has bought them is that they are now going on eBay for around $200!
When Joy Division’s Peter Hook was asked wether he knew about the T-shirt on MTV he commented, ‘Not to my knowledge. Since the others don’t talk to me I wouldn’t know. I have seen a lot of Mickey Mouse t-shirts in my time. But I have to say this is probably the best… I hope that [Disney] will be as understanding when we start doing Donald Duck shirts.’
