The Bourne Legacy star Jeremy Renner will play WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in an upcoming film about the website.

As you’ll probably remember Assange became a household name when launched his WikiLeaks website which posted stories from inside government that were leaked to him by whistleblowers. The website caused no end of embarrassment for government leaders both here and abroad.

Assange himself is currently hiding out here in the UK while both the US and Sweden try to gain access to him to try him for various crimes including sexual assault. It’s a pretty complicated story and one that hasn’t even reached its climax in real life so we imagine it’ll be a while before we see any development on this film.

None-the-less DreamWorks are keen to sign up as many people as possible and are also said to be eyeing up Breaking Dawn Part 2 director Bill Condon for leading duties on the film.
