Do the flames really work? That’s what we would like to know if we were going to bid on the car used in Jay-Z and Kanye West’s recent music video for Otis, the cut up and stuck together Maybach.
Otis, from the album, Watch The Throne got a great video addition in the form of Jay-Z and Kanye flying around with a load of models in the back of this car that on on the one hand looked like it was about to fall apart and on the other looked like a right tank beast of a thing. We have of course now discovered that this thing car has a name, Maybach and that you can, if you have a lot of money, buy it. Why neither of the boys wanted to keep it for an episode of Cribs at least we don’t know.
It was of course Mr Spike Jonze that was involved in the making of the video (who else) that got so hyped and now it is New York’s Phillips de Pury & Company who will be auctioning the Maybach off with all the proceeds going to Save the Children.
On 8th March get your few hundred thousand out the safe deposit box and you can go home with the doorless, fire belching machine car and start to decide where you will take it on its first trip out.
Maybe to a remote country village to scare everyone? Maybe alone the Thames to get the ultimate effect of fire reflecting in our grey London waters or maybe down Regent Street for the tourist photo vote. You could do it all! If only you had the cash…
Happy bidding!
