If you live in the Hammersmith and Fulham area of London there’s a good chance that you’ve had a bit of a mystery on your hands over the past few days.

That mystery is a bizarre number of white feathers falling from the sky into peoples gardens and onto the surrounding sheets. For a couple of days now local residents have been wondering what the hell is going on but now we have the answer.

The features spotted around Hammersmith and Fulham aren’t the result of some kind of bird gang warfare but are in fact the result of a performance put on by Les Studios de Cirque in Piccadilly Circus as part of the London 2012 Festival.

During the performance acts went up on zip wires and dropped tonnes of feathers onto the audience below. These feathers then flew on the wind and ended up making their way across London where they’ve now settled again.

So there you have it.
