Bad news for anyone who’s used to driving or walking over the Hammersmith flyover, it’s apparently in danger of collapsing.
The news comes from a secret source who leaked the information to Fulham and Hammersmith Chronicle who told the paper that the bridge, which opened in the 1960′s, has apparently deteriorated faster than TfL had first realised and now posed a danger to those using it.
The bridge is currently undergoing improvement works ahead of it being used as part of the Olympic Route Network with works expected to finish at the beginning of the Summer. According to reports the quotes from the source, who is said to be working on the bridge’s revamp, certain parts of it are eroding and hinted at the fact the whole thing may have to be rebuilt which we can only imagine will cause no end of disruption to those who use the bridge to commute into central London and surrounding areas.
