This is probably the weirdest fashion story we’ve ever had to write (even weirder than the penis shoes earlier) because we’re here to tell you about these RayFish trainers which are made in a rather odd way.
The newly launched shoe company create their bespoke trainers by genetically modifying stingrays in a variety of patterns and then using their skin to make the upper part of the shoes.
In what is essentially a ‘grow your own’ venture fashion lovers can create a pair of shoes that are unique as they are bizarre.
RayFish Footwear keep DNA of stingrays frozen in a lab each which when combined in various ways can create bespoke patterns and colours which are then put onto the shoes once the stingray has grown to a suitable size.
There are so many things wrong with this we don’t even know where to begin. Firstly there’s the animal rights issue but we think we’ll leave that to PETA to tackle. Secondly the whole idea is just rather disgusting. Why would you want to walk around with fish skin on your feet? Wrong on so, so many levels.
