Greenwich is to join the likes of Paris and Berlin in getting its own sandy beach.

Plans to build a man made beach complete with sand and parasols near The 02 have been given the go ahead and it is set to open in May. Once open Greenwich Beach will become the longest artificial city beach in Europe and will include an Olympic sized volleyball court, a live events stage and a restaurant and will be able to host up to 5,000 people. So put your plans for an expensive Summer holiday to once side, grab your bikini and lets all head to Greenwich.
