Green Day have announced that they are going to release a trilogy of new albums later this year and leading into 2013.
Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong took to his Twitter page to make the announcement about the trilogy which will be called ¡UNO! ¡DOS! ¡TRE! to say, ‘Ok. Here’s the deal. We’re making a 3 album trilogy. Not 1. Not 2. But 3 albums. Called ¡UNO! ¡DOS! ¡TRE! Coming September November January’.
The band have been working on new material since their last album, 21st Century Breakdown, with Armstrong recently revealing that the new albums will have a new sound that was ‘fucking’ with his head.
Speaking about the new sound the albums producer Rob Cavallo said, ‘It takes balls to do this, each hit of every instrument is actually super important, they add up to one thing. When you get it done, it’s like ‘Wow, that’s a big powerful statement”.
The first of the new albums will land in September so mark it out in your diaries if you’re a Green Day fan.
