The Chancellor, George Osborne, has today backed proposed plans to extend the Northern Line to Battersea due to the fact it could create an extra 25,000 jobs.
During his Autumn Statement which was delivered today Osborne said the Government were happy to back the extension in partnership with the private sector. The new tube stop on the Norther Line was part of Mayor Boris Johnsons plans to give the Battersea Power Station a £5.5billion revamp. If the new stop goes ahead it may not be open until 2016 so local residents need not get too excited just yet.
