London Zoo want to make it a reality. Clearly inspired by the amount of Pandas walking the streets in the past weeks ZSL London Zoo have put forward plans to promote their penguins.
Why on earth an animal so loved at the penguin needs extra promotion we are not sure but if they do surely that’s worrying – there was even Happy Feet! Is that not enough to get people interested?
The plan is to turn 30 St mary Axe Tower, better known at The Gherkin into a giant penguin. ZSL London Zoo are so serious about this idea that they have commissioned a production team to draw up a redesign of the famed skyscraper to approach those needed to give the OK.
Do you want a giant penguin on the London skyline? We do.
The Zoo’s Head of Comms, Emma Edwards said: “We think ‘The Penguin’ would be a striking addition to the London skyline and serve as a perfect reminder to Londoners and tourists alike to visit ZSL London Zoo and Penguin Beach this summer. We know it’s audacious, but let’s be honest – penguins are a lot more interesting than gherkins!”
Yes Emma, we agree. And maybe the Shard could be turned into the Eye Of Sauron too.
