The 1940s is an excellent time period to set a film. Men were men, women had moxie and police brutality was par for the course.
Gangster Squad, which has just received a new international trailer complete with Jay-Z soundtrack and ice cool editing, is shaping up to be the epitome of this era, albeit in an idealised form.
Starring hot properties Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling alongside old players including Nick Nolte and Sean Penn, the trailer does an excellent job of making this movie look appealing, irrespective of its silly name. Even Josh Brolin is onboard, making it one of the best contemporary casts that Hollywood can muster.
Gangster Squad will be hitting cinemas in November, so expect to see a lot more hype generated between now and then.
