The people behind the annual Frieze Art Fair are to give each of the six boroughs involved in the Olympic Games a piece of artwork as part of a project called Frieze Projects East.
Frieze Projects East, a part of the London 2012 Festival, will see areas like Greenwich, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest will all have colourful artworks donated in time for the Olympic Games. Among the pieces being put up Greenwich will get a permanent sculpture from local artist Gary Webb while inflatable sculptures by Anthea Hamilton and Nicholas Byrne will fill the empty Poplar Baths.
Each of the art works have been made by artists who lived or studied in East London and are the first to be commissioned away from the art fair which takes place in Regents Park every October.
