Has anyone used the free wifi on the tubes yet? Are you loving it or do you find that you often forget that the option is even there?
According to TFL and Virgin Media’s stats there are 661,000 of you happily using wifi underground. If you are a forgetter however don’t worry as soon you will have more chances to remember as the wifi gets pushed out to more than the current 75 platforms.
Currently Waterloo, Victoria, Oxford Circus and King’s Cross stations have the wifi.
Currently the service is free but there were plans to switch it to a pay-as-you-go service after the Olympics. Now though due to the success of the initiative it looks to hopefully remain free for the rest of the year at least.
In 2013 you might want to switch your broadband to Virgin however as mobile and broadband customers will get the option to add on the tube wifi to their subscription. If you are not a Virgin user then you will only be able to get travel information and a bit of free news and entertainment.
