Some people think the best things in life are free and the latest offering from Ben & Jerry’s goes some way to confirm this.
The company has organised for a tour bus to travel around handing out free ice cream and it’s visiting Hackney on the 7th May for the day.
At the moment the confirmed times are 12-1.30pm at the Truman Brewery near Brick Lane, 2-4pm in Victoria Park and Queen Mary University in Mile End at a time you choose.
It’s supposed to be a chance for ice cream fans to get a say as to when the bus arrives so on the Ben & Jerry’s facebook page you can pick a destination and vote for spaces.
If you’re not around on the day or stuck in your office you can always try and request a stop on the website, but if you want your offer accepted you’ll need to try and persuade as many people as possible in your office to join in too.
Along with “bringing peace, love and ice cream to the nation” the reason for the tour is mainly to promote the new flavours coming out this summer and they look pretty tempting. There’s Karemal Sutra, a saucy caramel core surrounding by chocolate and caramel ice cream with chocolately chunks, Berry White: a soft chocolate truffle core packed into vanilla & raspberry ice creams with white chocolatey chunks & raspberry pieces or Dough-ble Whammy: chocolate fudge core with chocolate & cookie dough ice creams.
If you’re not a Hackney resident (and if not why not) the bus will be visiting other destinations from 7 – 11 May and a list of the 18 cities its stopping off at can be found on the website.
There’s no details about how much ice cream will be handed out or in what form (scoops, cups or tubs?) but my advice is to get there early.
