Hitting stores on the 24th is Fred Perry’s debut collection with Richard Nicoll, a range of clothes that makes you yearn for summer, rowing regatta’s and picnics on the lawn. If you are excited for the inevitable smart chic, possibly tennis on a grass court look that will come out of the country gent looks last year then this is your bread and butter. Taking inspiration from 50′s teddy girls as well as we think a bit of a certain royal wedding the Laurel Wreath collection was created (each garment has the logo that has become detachable and a broach.
“I like the idea that something as conservative and traditional as a cameo brooch could become subversive in the right hands. From here we referenced my acid colour blocked SS09 sportswear influenced collection and added old-fashioned elements like pointelle cardigans and mother of pearl laurel brooches for branding. I also mixed sport jersey with lurex piqué and brocade cottons to create a clash of sport and traditional 50’s couture elements in dynamic but recognisably 50’s colours such as eau de nil and peach” – Richard Nicoll, 2010.
