Odd Future member and successful solo artist Frank Ocean has come out of the closet after months of speculation about his sexuality.
The singer, who narrowly missed out on the BBC Sound of 2012 top spot, took to his Tumblr to clarify rumours about his sexuality admitting to fans that he is gay.
Rumours started spreading after reviewers were invited to a playback of his soon to be released album Channel Orange which features Ocean singing honestly about his experiences as a gay man.
Taking to his Tumblr page Ocean released the thank you notes from the album in which he speaks about meeting and falling in love with a boy he met when he was 19 years old. The eloquent and brilliantly written letter explains that he wanted to address the rumours so that ‘babies born these days will inherit less of the bullshit than we did’ and also goes on to explain that the sentimental songs he played to himself when he got his first girlfriend ‘were written in a language I did not yet speak’.
At the time of writing ‘Odd Future’ is already a trending topic on Twitter with fans taking to the social network to praise Ocean’s honesty and courage for addressing the speculation head on.
