Saving yourself for the weekend by staying in tonight but still need a way to keep you entertained? Fear not because there’s some great films on TV tonight, here’s our pick of what you should be watching…
The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas, 9pm, BBC2: If it’s something that pulls on the old heart strings you’re after then this is the film for you. The film adaption of John Boyne’s bestselling novel tells the story of an 8 year old boy called Bruno who is moved to the countryside with his Nazi officer father. Mistaking the nearby concentration camp for a farm he begins to befriend a young boy in striped pyjamas.

The Hurt Locker, 9pm, More4: This is one for those of you who fancy a bit of action this Friday evening. Starring Jeremy Renner and Ralph Fiennes the film is set in Iraq and tells the story of a US Army bomb-disposal squad and tells the story of the last 38 days that the men have left to serve, and risk their lives, there. All of the men have a different outlook on their situation and the film explores how different people cope in such difficult settings.

Speed, 9pm, 5*: Back when Keanu Reeves was still making good films he took centre stage in Speed and if you haven’t seen it before you simply must tonight. Along with Sandra Bullock Reeves’ character finds himself stuck on a bus which if it slows down below a certain speed will blow up. If car chases, high intensity will-they-wont-they-survive films are your cup of tea then this is the film for you tonight.
