Move over Blackberry and every Android on the market, there’s about to be a new smartphone in town.
Reports suggest that Facebook is gearing up to launch a smartphone next year. This will be a hugely interesting shift into tech if they go ahead.
The New York Times has reported that engineers have been asked to start working on hardware for a Facebook smartphone.
This isn’t overly new news as Facebook have begun to try to make a smarphone three times already according to sources.
Will it be blue? Will it automatically tell everyone where you are all the time? Will it automatically tag you with friends when you are together with your Facebook phones? Who knows.
Facebook is not alone however with the move into phones as Google completed the acquisition of Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion last week.
Although currently mostly rumour it does seem highly likely that we will see a phone from Facebook earlier rather than later with AllThingsD reporting that Facebook and manufacturer HTC were working together to develop a mobile device under the code name “Buffy.”
