Today we’re looking at an exhibition currently taking place at the Subtext Gallery in San Diego by artist Tim Maclean.
Fragments & Phantoms sees Maclean exhibiting works which bring together superheroes and mythical creatures. Using DC and Marvel comics for inspiration Maclean has re-imagined some of the world’s most famous superheroes within Greek mythology.
As you can see in the images above the works feature the likes of Batman as Hades God of the underworld and the Hulk as Hercules and each print is available to buy from the Subtext Gallery website.
Superheroes have become ever-so popular again this year following the release of films such as The Avengers and The Amazing Spider-Man so it’s no massive surprise that they’re popping up in so many artworks. However we love the slant that Maclean has put on the genre with these pieces, likening the characters to Greek God’s is a stroke of genius.
