As part of our Exhibitions Abroad series we look at the new Maurice Sendak retrospective currently taking place at the AFA Gallery in New York.
The exhibition celebrates the life and works of the late Sendak who passed away last month.
On the 84th anniversary of Sendak’s birthday the exhibition focuses on his children’s literature illustrations including his most famous work Where the Wild Things Are which he released in 1963.
Among Sendak’s published pieces there are also sketches, drawings, conceptual art and sculptures and you can take a sneak peak of what those who are lucky enough to attend can expect above.
