“I am so proud to announce the first original Destiny’s Child music in eight years!” posted Beyonce on Facebook yesterday. WELL WE’RE ALL PROUD TOO, B. “Nuclear”, the new release from the R&B power group, is the first to come from Destiny’s Child since the band decided to go their separate ways in the 2006.
The track opens with a Destiny’s Child trademark sultry three way harmony, and just when you think you’re about to be hit with the next Stand Up For Love-esque ballad, in come the mid-tempo jungle inspired beats which have got Pharrell Williams written all over them. Is this a good thing? Absolutely.
Okay, admittedly I think the world agrees we were all expecting them to return with something a bit… bigger? Maybe more fireworks? Beyonce being fired out of a cannon? Some critics are even asking whether Destiny’s Child still have what it takes to stand up to today’s R&B chart toppers (Rita Ora and Rihanna for instance). I think the answer is obvious.
The girls (wait, I think they might be women now?) are set to release their forthcoming album “Love Songs” on the 29th of January, here’s the set list:
1. ‘Cater 2 U’
2. ‘Killing Time’
3. ‘Second Nature’
4. ‘Heaven’
5. ‘Now That She’s Gone’
6. ‘Brown Eyes’
7. ‘If’
8. ‘Emotion’
9. ‘If You Leave’ (feat Next)
10. ‘T-Shirt’
11. ‘Temptation’
12. ‘Say My Name’ (Timbaland Remix)
13. ‘Love’
14. ‘Nuclear
Fingers crossed this is the first of many exciting things to come from Destiny’s Child in 2013. WELCOME BACK!
