As each fashion cycle takes us a little bit further back in time and pulls out a regurgitated item of clothing from the past is it time to ask the question, are we turning into an earlier version our parents?
This might not be a bad thing, your parents might have been very cool when they were a little younger as lets be clear, we’re talking about a circa 70s 80s parent, not how your parents look today.
So to take dads as the first example, what are we grabbing from our forefathers?
Checked shirts, the staple for most men currently, especially those in any sort of creative role (it gives the opportunity to still wear a shirt to work but also to express individualism in the boldness of your chosen check) are something we can see on many an iconic 80s father.

Fair enough they were larger, tucked into jeans in a baggy way and unfitted, but checked shirts they were non the less.
Going a little further back is the dandy/modern day, I’ve just stepped out of a 50′s film dad. Skinny ties, fitted shirt and a waist coat of overcoat compete this look.

Then jumping to the sixties you have your more alt, hippy dad. The one that wore the flares (these may not be in right now but it’s only a matter of time) and more relevantly the neck ties (all over topman) and a loosely fitting suit jacket come over coat.

So, taking all the above into account and with the help of some informational images, which dad are you soon to turn into?
