We are showcasing some of the highlights from the Clarks Style Guide for AW12. The Style guide shows brilliantly the ever-growing transition of Clarks from a comfortable footwear retailer to a fashion forward and on-trend brand which offers a range of styles suitable for every personal taste.
Today there are interviews from Rob and Mariell.
Rob Reed
It’s 10am, where are you going?
Today I have several potential clients I am meeting. I am an illustrator and my life regularly requires a balance of sales and production. I am meeting an advertising agency
Why does Victorian dress sense appeal so much?
I prefer to dress smart as I feel appearance is key. Someone once said “Clothes don’t make the man, but they do make ninety percent of him”.
For me; unless a man looks and acts the part, people find it hard to believe what he says.
Can you describe a day to day look for us?
A perfect overcoat, a slim silk or cotton tie, waistcoat, cotton shirt, braces (if it suits the ensemble) or a leather belt (matching the colour of the shoes) , usually checkered trousers, (hopefully) a pair of matching socks and a pair of leather shoes – either the oxford, derby, high topped boots or these Chelsea shoes that I am wearing today. Very comfortable.
Which accessory couldn’t you live without and why?
I love my antique pocket watch, particularly wearing it for formal occasions. It is from the early 1900‘s, It looks grand, it appears loved and used.
Mariell Amelie
It’s 10am, where are you going?
Normally I’m still in bed at about 10am, or on a sunny day I would probably be sitting eating my breakfast and reading Norwegian news.
How would you describe your own personal style?
In the winter maybe a bit dark Amish Brigitte Bardot, and in the summer you could add a bit of colour to that description. The summer is the season when I whip out all my 60’s dresses I’ve collected the last 8 years.
How do your photographs reflect your fashion sense?
The clothes I wear and the clothes in my pictures are both a bit timeless, and I wear and photograph clothes I’ve either got from my grand-aunts 60’s closet or my Moms 70’s closet, or bought second hand. I don’t like spending big amount of money on clothes; I appreciate more when I get/find a piece for free or really, really cheap
