Our newest band to start a WJ Blog Line, Lonsdale Boys Club speak to our music writer, Ben Welling to shed a little light on what you might find by following their new blog.
You guys have a very upbeat sound, what makes a good party for you?
Dark Rum and ginger beer, a nice set of decks, loads of funky bootlegs n mashups, Funktion one sound system, interesting chat, girls, fancy dress and pretty lights.
What’s the strangest thing that’s happening to you on tour or at a gig?
A girl asked for a hug after a show, and while she was cuddling into my chest she started whimpering then burst into tears… Maybe i was too sweaty. We also got banned from pretty much every Bar and Casino in Glasgow one night on our last tour.
Your sound clearly has a number if influences from Hip Hop/Rock/Pop, for those who might not have discovered Lonsdale Boys Club yet, how would you describe yourselves musically or compare yourselves to?
We’re a gang of boys who play kicking guitar pop with big beats and some urban flavas!
What’s the best band you’ve seen live recently?
Red hot chilli Peppers.
If you could tour with anyone who would you choose?
The Rolling Stones
What’s your guilty pleasure album/track?
Its hard to pick, coz i listen to loads of cheesey bangers! Lots of old Disco, Funk and Soul. But i guess the true guilty pleasures are stuff like Toploader, Limp Bizkit, Katy Perry and old Sean Paul tracks.
If you could banish any celebrity form history who would it be and why?
Hilter. Basically a massive douche bag. Or Pol Pot. Or the bald dude who used to present Crystal Maze…. I was at a house party once, it was fancy dress and this guy was dressed like the crystal maze dude (with a pink swimming hat on so he looked bald). The guy started talking all this nonsense while I was Djing and getting pretty aggressive! Anyway it quickly turned into a pretty rowdy fight and almost spoiled the party… none of this would have ever happened if the Crystal Maze guy didn’t exist.
When can we next catch Lonsdale Boys Club live?
We’ll be back on the road in Feburary, doing some of our biggest shows so far!
