Carl Barat has announced his latest musical project, a new band called Eyes on Film.

Through all the will-they-wont-they rumours of The Libertines reforming again Barat has decided to throw his energies into his new five piece band. And the news will no doubt be a set back for any fans hoping that the North London indie band would get back together any time soon.

While we’re not entirely sure what type of music the band are planning to make together yet Barat has revealed that they are something of a ‘concept community’ band. He also let slip that he loves the feeling of being back in a band again and that they will be hitting the studio to work on new material soon.

As for comparisons to The Libertines he should be pretty safe with these guys as rumour has it their stuff takes on a bit of an electro slant, a genre never touched by his former band with Pete Doherty.
