East London Restaurant Caravaggio is introducing a special tasting menu for the Jubilee full of modern Italian food and English Wine.
The new tasting menu will be in place from 28th May to 15th June and will cost £23.50 a head for two courses and £38.50 with two wine pairings, or at £29.50 for three courses and £49.50 with three wine pairings.
The Carvaggio Executive Chef Faliero Lenta has sourced the vast majority of the produce for the new menu from the UK, whilst sommelier Luigi Buonanno has come up the perfect English wine to go with each of the dishes.
The new dishes on offer include a vodka & dill marinated fresh salmon with samphire salad paired with the highly acclaimed Camel Valley Brut 2010 from Cornwall, a traditional method vintage sparkling wine with as much complexity as a Champagne Grande Marque.
A Beef carpaccio with celery and basil infused virgin olive oil, paired with Bloomsbury Cuvée Merret 2009 Ridgeview from Sussex, another excellent sparkler, and the Asparagus and Dorset Blue cheese risotto calls from the Bacchus Fumé 2010 Furleigh Estate also from Dorset. This is a rich, crisp white with an attractive citrus character. There is also a Cavendish Cuvée Merret 2008 Ridgeview from Sussex to accompany the Roasted breast of guinea fowl, whilst the tempting desserts are enhanced by the aromatic Baccanalia 2011 Brightwell Vineyard in Oxfordshire.
Styled in homage to a key genius of the Italian Renaissance, Caravaggio is dedicated to gastronomic excellence, demonstrating in its Jubilee menu the same dedication to quality and innovation as the great Italian masters brought to painting and sculpture.
