Calling someone the C-word on Twitter is now classed as an illegal act and could land you in court, prosecuted, found guilty and facing a custodial sentence.
We know this is true because blogger and tweeter, Olly Cromwell, has today been found guilty under Section 127 of the Telecommunications Act 2003 of making a grossly offensive and menacing comment on Twitter.
Now it is not a nice thing to call anyone and not a nice word full stop. We know that it has turned a little common place now, the C-word can probably now-a-days be looked upon as no different to the expletive fuck. However, it still greatly offends most and anyone that often uses the word should probably head young Olly’s example.
The story behind Olly Cromwell was he called a Bexleyheath councillor a cunt (woops), on Twitter. Now a District Judge has referred Olly To Bromley Court for sentencing. The prosecution are asking for a custodial sentence equal to 45 days for each letter.
