This Sunday you can take part in a free walking tour around Brick Lane hosted by the writer Ansar Ahmed Ullah.
It’s all part of a current exhibition at the Whitechapel Gallery focussing on the history of activism in the Bangladeshi community around Brick Lane and Spitalfields.
Instead of heading to the area for curry, or grabbing a new outfit at the market, this gives you an opportunity to try something new and learn a little about the diverse history of the area.
Artist Matt Stokes has been working on the project ‘The Street: Give to Me the Life I Love’ which you can view at the gallery. It’s all about how communities can shape the people who live within them and the film His film, Give to Me the Life I Love, is a combination of these stories together in a movie script.
The walk, is part of the project, and takes place this Sunday between 2-4pm. although it’s free, booking through the Gallery website is recommended.
