Boris loves putting things in the sky doesn’t he, cable cars being just one of those things. His newest plan is called SkyCycle and will see London’s cyclists taking to the rooftops of London to cycle away from the traffic much like New York’s High Line.
Personally we think falling off an elevated platform would be a tad more dangerous than cycling along a cycle lane and don’t really like the idea of people cycling over our roofs especially those with windows but hey, we’ll keep an open mind.
Maybe Boris’s recent dangle is to blame, giving him a taste for the sky line but architects proposals are currently being looked over to make SkyCycle a reality. These images show what the SkyCycle lanes might look like from architect Sam Martin. Currently Boris is said to be considering the plans that could connect Stratford in East London to Fenchurch Street in the City first.
The elevated cycle paths will run between London’s mainline stations and won’t be free to use. It has been suggested that one journey would cost £1 with an Oyster card, kind of defeating the whole cycling around London is the free option idea. HOwever that’s still less than half the price of a Tube journey in Zone 1.
Personally we think they should just invest in hover bikes.
