The Boris Bike scheme is expanding even further with more of South London to be taken into the heavy bike fold.
Lambeth, Battersea Park, Wandsworth and Hammersmith and Fulham are to get new bikes according to this new map which shows the extended Boris Bike zones.
Did you know however that these bikes are not simply placed in the new zones to be paid for and earn their keep through the residents, our councils are spending £2million a pop to have the bikes in their boroughs.
This is apparently so that the bikes re-coup their losses even though Barclays put £50million into the scheme. However this was an amount that was supposed to be eaked out over a period that spanned through to 2018 and now no one will confirm what has actually been paid up to this point.
So the long and short is that Barclays still get their branding on the bikes and our boroughs have to pay for the pleasure, then we have to pay upped fees for the pleasure if we want to use them.
