Walthamstow Dog Track will now just be the latest in an ever increasing line of historic graded buildings or areas that are being turned into housing and office complexes in London. The track has had plans approved to be made into 294 homes and a leisure complex.
There is an ever increasing concern that due to Boris’s yearning for a London that keeps up with the times and cashes in on as much real estate as it can we might be loosing some really great and hugely loved heritage spots.
As usual both campaigners and local MPs had called on the mayor to refuse the plan but they have been given the go-ahead none the less.
Rick Holloway, of Save Our Stow said to the BBC : ”The world’s number one dog racing track which used to have 5,000 people going to it every week is now going to be a fortress housing estate.”
Boris defends his decision saying that it will bring money into the area.
