We popped down to hidden away little London Bar, The Lucky Pig last night to have a sample of their forthcoming Christmas menu – God we love a Christmas menu! And there are certainly a few new bits and pieces that are worth writing home about on this one.
The Lucky Pig is slightly hard to find, the only giveaway to its whereabouts is a painted wall with its name, under an awning which doesn’t help too much with the finding – though this is probably a good thing, if it got attention from random passers by as well as people who specifically made the trip to go there it would be way too full.
Inside it’s small but perfectly formed, small tables are comfortable and there is almost always a musician set up somewhere tinkling away.
For Christmas The Lucky Pig are pushing a Dark and Stormy cocktail (Goslings Dark Rum, lime, sugar & ginger beer) which, to our relief didn’t rely heavily on ice to make up profit margins and a raspberry champagne much like a Bellini with a peach to raspberry swap.
The highlight for us though were the Vanilla Bourbon Ribs. What with all the rib and BBQ places in London opening up this year be very careful not to overlook others that have ribs on the menu but don’t necessarily shout about it – it would be a crying shame if you love ribs and you didn’t feast here. We can hand on heart say that there is about double the meat to the bone on every rib and although messy they are heaven sent.
If you are with a group then order the Chicken Parmegana ‘Burger Style’ burgers too, we had mini ones last night so we are not sure whether there is a big version, but oh my, these are good. Chicken with melty cheese inside, in a breadcrumb and in a soft bun with some relish – to die for.
If you work anywhere around Clipstone Street/Great Portland Street get here after work to make your belly happy.
