We’re all for giving back with our fashion choices and it gives us a really good excuse to splurge on Betty & Betts’ new season Fairtrade Betty accessories collection.
As the name suggests, the materials are all Fairtrade and the juicy colours include an autumnal plum, rich blues and classic tan.
Established by Brits JoJo Blythen and Tanya Clarke, who met at an egg race in Bangalore in 2006 while both working in the charity sector, Betty & Betts supports developing communities in India with a percentage of profits. They also only work with Fairtrade suppliers registered with the WFTO.
There are cute back-to-school style stachels in blue, tan, purple and black, a tote, iPhone and iPad holders, wallets, passport covers and a card holder we quite fancy for a chic Oyster card wallet.
Here’s the tan iPhone case, which retails on Not on the Highstreet at £25 and includes the emblem which appears across the range, office dog, Sausage.
And here’s the tote, which comes in all the colourways and boasts Betty & Betts’ signature printed organic lining.
The satchels (top image) are priciest at £249 but for that you’re buying into a quality ethical product and there are loads of pockets and nice design details, including that brass dog, which should ensure it lasts for years.
Ultimately the pair aim to set up a Betty Foundation to further their causes. In the meantime we’re pleased to see a new company putting social accountability at its core. That and beautiful accessories.
