What with a further price hike in beer announced today and Pubs and super markets showing falling sales in beer it seems it is certainly time to start coming up with a few different idea to sell the amber fizzy.
A number of clever bars in London began to use lager and beer in cocktails (Cockt-ales if you will) earlier in the year to a mixed response. It makes sense with the great independent micro breweries that have sprouted out growing a new following of beer connoisseurs. Now the cockt-ales are becoming very popular.
So where do you go in London to find a good beer cocktail? Well luckily we have the answers.
Dead Dolls Club offer a lager cocktail for £9 which comprises Lager, home made ginger syrup, fresh lime juice, Kraken run, Ameretto and Angustura bitters.
Dabbus have a whole section on their cocktail menu dedicated to beer cocktails with three to choose from. Our favourite is the Boris Becker at £8.50 that’s made up of Bombay Sapphire gin, strawberries, passionfruit, lemon juice and saffron, topped up with Einstok White Ale.
Brewdog in Camden have a beer cocktail that is just right for Halloween, the Hardcore Zombie, that includes Hardcore IPA, rum, ginger beer and fresh lime £5.95.
Firm favourite Hawksmoorhas a London Pride based cocktail called Shaky Pete’s Ginger Brew with Gin, Ginger Syrup, Lemon added to the London Pride base.
Casa Morita in Brixton have a Mexican take on the beer cocktail being the Michelada. Beer poured over ice Beer of your choice and mixed with Tabasco & Bufalo salsa, Worcestershire, Soya & fresh lime juice. Served in a salt-rimmed glass. £5.25
