The Wall is a new project from Hackney Downs Studios that will see the car park space outside the Russet Cafe transformed into an outdoor gallery and they are looking for artists to take part.
There will be a coffee morning this Friday (9th November) at 11am for people that want to be involved to come and see what it’s al about.
For the Wall project the Hackney Downs lot are thinking anti-industrial and a complete transformation.
If you are an artist wanting to get their name out then this is a great opportunity for your work to be seen by a ton of people in east London.
The Hackney Downs Studios site is full of creative studios and event spaces so you might just make some new like minded friends by popping down and taking part too.
Artists involved will be supplied with plywood sheets to work on, which will then be attached directly to the wall. The sheets will be roughly (1220mm by 1220mm). All other materials will need to be provided by the artists and a variety of different mediums is encouraged. A space within Hackney Downs Studios will be provided for two days in late November in which time the panels will be completed.
The exhibition will then open as part of First Thursdays on the 6th December and work will be displayed for 6 months.
If you can not make the coffee morning then you can send a sample of your work or blog/web address and a sketch or plan of what you propose for a section of the wall to Ayesha@creativenetworkpart
