Controversial rapper Azealia Banks has topped a list of NME’s Cool List 2011.
The list which included 50 people also included Jarvis Cocker (who came a respectable second), Hurts’ singer Theo Hutchcraft, Arctic Monkey’s drummer Matt Helders and Lana Del Rey. If you’re not already aware of 20-year-old rapper Azealia Banks she hails from Harlem and has been making headlines, and having her videos deleted from Youtube, for her sexually explicit lyrics. She has fans in the likes of Alexa Chung and Lily Allen and after her first song 212 went viral online it was rushed to the top of the Radio 1 radio edit pile, after 40 changes of course.
