The Black Keys’ frontman Dan Auerbach has confirmed that he is going to be producing Hanni El Khatib’s second album.
The follow up to Khatib’s 2011 album, Will The Guns Come Out is said to be a ’60s garage but without nostalgia’ themed release with Auerbach taking on the leading duties in producing the singers new batch of songs.
Khatib and Auerbach first met in France and became great friends with Khatib, who used to be an art director for a skate wear company, designing the logo for Auerbach’s studio for him.
Speaking about meeting each other Khatib told LA Weekly, ‘A friend owns a bar in Paris and introduced us when I was deejaying after a show. He went deep into music and started dropping knowledge about all these obscure LA bands. We ended up going back and forth deejaying all night’.
LA based Khatib burst onto the music scene last year with his old school rock n roll meets garage meets the blues style and sun tinged music videos instantly grabbing the attention of music fans everywhere. So refreshingly original in fact was Khatib’s style of music that Florence Welch personally invited him to support her band on their US tour last year. WJ for one can’t wait to hear what these two can come up with.
