Ahead of his joint Coast to Coast exhibition with Daniel Lumbini at the Rook & Raven Gallery we caught up with artist Dale Marshall for a chat about how he learnt his craft, his secret notable fan and how he came to realise he had a talent…
Where do you live? I live in the beautiful countryside of middle Wales.
Tell us about yourself? I’m sensitive, egotistical, whilst humble. I love family life and I also have a mild social phobia towards other artists
When did you first realise you had a talent? When I started to make choices for myself around the age of 13 and realised you didn’t have to pay to make art.
What inspires you? Nature and my surroundings, my family etc.
What are the tools of your trade? I primarily paint with oils but I have been enjoying mixed media since studying abstract painting in Southern California.
Do you have any notable fans? Yes but no one believes it, so I’d rather not mention. My young children seems to be my biggest fans “daddy you are the best painter in the world”.
Tell us a fact about you that no one knows... I have delusions of grandeur approx once a week for around 30 minutes then it stops
What else do you have coming up in 2012? Any exhibitions etc? Our Rook and Raven London show sept 20th will be my last for 2 years as I am working on a huge project. This will be my last collection until that.
