A beardy Ben Affleck is back on screens later this year with Argo, a film based on the true story of a CIA operation to extract American hostages from Iran in 1979.
What makes the plot particularly intriguing is the fact that the CIA had to pretend that the hostages were actually part of a film crew involved in the production of a non-existent film, itself called Argo. This gives the true events the feeling of a fantastical caper, but with the bonus of having a grounding in reality.
The cast consists of big hitters such as John Goodman and Bryan Cranston, which should give weight to a film that Affleck is also directing. This brief TV spot gives a good account of itself and UK audiences should be able to see Argo from November 9th, although it is out in the US next month.
