Do you spend a lot of time thinking and talking about Facebook? Do you use the social networking site to forget about your problems? Then according to a new quiz you could well be addicted.
The quick and rather simple test has been designed by the University of Bergen in Norway which has come up with six easy questions which could determine if you’re an ordinary Facebook user or an addict.
According to those who work at the University the quiz, named the The Bergen Facebook Addiction Scale, has been based around the same type of tests that doctors use to work out if people are alcoholics or dependent on drugs and aims to highlight those who are dangerously addicted to the social networking site.
Asking 423 students to take the test the University found that addiction to Facebook was most rife in young adults with more women than men being classed as dangerously addicted to the site. It also found that addiction was more likely in those who are ‘anxious and socially insecure’ due to the fact they find it harder to talk to people face to face.
So are you a Facebook addict? You can pop over to the Daily Mail website to do the test but it’s all pretty obvious stuff. The test is based around finding out if Facebook interferes with your social life and/or work, it also looks at the extent to which you use Facebook as a distraction and how much importance you place on it during your daily life.
