We’re undecided how we feel about this but a low budget remake of the cult classic American Psycho has been given the go ahead.
The original 2000 film starred Christian Bale and was based on the original book by Bret Easton Ellis and became a huge hit both here and in America. Unlike the original the new film wont be set on 80s Wall Street but in a modern day New York (the first bit we’re not sure of) and will be written and directed by Noble Jones (another bit we’re not sure of seeing as his only credit on IMDb is as second unit director for The Social Network).
For anyone who hasn’t seen the film or read the book (and trust us, you really really must) the book follows the story of Patrick Bateman, a wealthy, self-centred New York investment banker who has a habit of murdering everyone from friends to colleagues, prostitutes and the homeless. How much the new version will stick to the original story is still unsure so we’ll withhold judgement until we have more details but the phrase ‘if it aint broke don’t try and fix it’ springs to mind with this one.
