When we first heard news that Blur’s Alex James was launching a new summer festival we were feeling pretty hopeful. And then we found out he’s launching it with Jamie Oliver…

Yes that’s right the musician turned cheese maker is teaming up with do gooder Oliver for a new annual event called The Big Festival which will, as you’ve probably guessed, combine food and music.

The event is taking place this weekend (1st – 2nd September) and will be headlined by Paloma Faith and Texas (we didn’t realise they were still around either).

If that wasn’t enough for you the two men will also be teaming up for a one-off performance with James on bass and Oliver on drums. Doesn’t sound too hopeful does it?..
