The first trailer for hard boiled thriller Alex Cross has landed.

Most people will not have seen Matthew Fox since he bowed out with the rest of the cast at the end of Lost back in 2010.

However, it seems that the 45 year old actor is set on establishing himself as a freakish serial killer rather than a clean cut leading man in Alex Cross, the first trailer for which has landed this week.

With a lean, sinewy physique developed to fit the character, Fox looks like he is auditioning for a role in the follow-up to Hitman. He will be facing off against the titular hero, played by Tyler Perry, in what looks to be an over the top and formulaic thriller, judging by the trailer alone.

The character of detective Alex Frost has previously been portrayed onscreen by Morgan Freeman in Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider, so Perry does has relative youth on his side. But this first glimpse suggests that much of the tension may be sapped from the film due to an over exposure of Fox’s sadistic killer.

A November 30th UK release date is pencilled in for Alex Cross, so hopefully director Rob Cohen‘s experience with dumb-tacular action will pull it in the right direction.
