Here’s the first trailer for Never Sorry, a documentary about controversial artist and activist Ai Weiwei.
Weiwei has become one of the greatest art icons of our time known as much for his revolutionary work as he is for taking a stand against his native Chinese government and their repressive ways.
Made by Alison Klayman the documentary follows Weiwei throughout his career and includes interviews with fans, fellow artists and those he’s worked with as well as the man himself.
Weiwei himself is banned from leaving China after authorities held him for 81 days of questioning about his activist activity and is seen by many of a symbol of those trying to rally for freedom within the country. This documentary seems to perfectly capture the spirit he raises in people as well as how much of a threat he appears to be to the Chinese authorities.
Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry is released on 27th July.
