EMI are due to release Fifty Shades of Grey the album in September according to reports today.
Arguably the biggest book phenomenon since Twilight and The Hunger Games Fifty Shades of Grey seemingly came out of no where and yet, it is now one of the biggest selling books in the world.
Now, none of the WJ staff forced have actually read the book but we have skim read enough to know that it almost certainly isn’t worthy of the hype it’s getting. The author E. L. James us currently making about £6,000 an hour off the back os sales of a book that is essentially Twilight fan fiction with a bit of soft (and very repetitive) porn thrown in for good measure.
Never the less supply and demand means that EMI have rushed to put together a classical album based on the book and are going to release it on 18th September. The music heard on the album is said to have inspired the author while she wrote but really there’s no actual proof that this is anything more than cashing in on a fad that will (hopefully) be forgotten as quickly as it became popular.
